BATTS juniors make a heroic debut in the National Junior League

Congratulations to our four teams representing BATTS in the National Junior League. The first round of matches was played at Ellenborough TTC on Saturday 5th November.
We entered four teams and this gave the first taste of competition to many of our intermediate squad. Facing much older and more experienced opponents gave our youngsters an introduction to match play under tournament conditions.
They all performed extremely well, with many gaining individual victories against nationally ranked players. This will start them on the path to future success if they continue to show the wonderful enthusiasm and determination we saw throughout the day.
The A team of Christian Gibson, Jordan Ingles and Liam Williams notched up a win against Mossford 1 and were unlucky not to gain a second win, losing by the narrowest of margins to Watford Jets.
The B team of James Knudsen, Luke Jones and Ryan Hubbard had the biggest challenge of all facing Division One opponents who were much older and far more experienced.
The C team (Ben Van Hemert, Sam Scott, Jess Jarvis and Louis Tarrant) pushed Ellenborough C very close, just losing 5 -4. Sam Scott lost only one singles during the day.
The D team of Josh Poland, Michael O'Neill, Charlie Carter and William Lewy were all entirely new to competitive play and did brilliantly to take games from their opponents in all matches.
The next round of matches will be on 26th November.
